Calculate how much you actually pay the Port Authority each year. Built around the 2026 E-ZPass peak, off-peak, Green Pass, and Toll-by-Mail rates effective 4 January 2026.
The GWB toll is collected eastbound only, so a round-trip commute counts as one toll. The numbers below assume 48 working weeks per year (52 weeks minus 4 weeks of typical PTO and holidays) and 2026 published rates.
| Commute pattern | E-ZPass peak | E-ZPass off-peak | Toll-by-Mail |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 days/wk (10 crossings/wk) | $8,059 | $7,099 | $11,184 |
| Hybrid 3 days/wk (6 crossings/wk) | $4,836 | $4,260 | $6,710 |
| Hybrid 2 days/wk (4 crossings/wk) | $3,224 | $2,840 | $4,474 |
| 1 day/wk (2 crossings/wk) | $1,612 | $1,420 | $2,237 |
A 5-day-a-week passenger-car commuter saves roughly $3,125 per year by using E-ZPass instead of Toll-by-Mail. Switching from peak E-ZPass to off-peak (where work hours allow) saves another $960.
